So the big guns enter the fa cup and didn't disappoint. Well for the most part anyway. It was an exciting and compelling weekend for football. The african players have left to go represent their countries, and it showed in some of the teams.
Match of the weekend had to be the manchester derby at the Etihad stadium. What a match! Vincent company got sent off in the first quarter of the game for a dodgy two footed challenge, but I think it should have been just a yellow. That red card clearly changed the game in uniteds favour. At half time united were looking comfortable with a 3-0 scoreline. But man city werent ready to give up yet. They made 2 changes at half time and managed to score 2 goals and give the united players quite a scare.
But towards the end, united were playing for time, sad if you ask me. Ur playing a 10-man team and you managed to score 3 in the first half. never thought they would have to resort to such boring tactics. but it won them the game. A good match but a disappointing finish ultimately...

Gameweek 20 so far...
Gameweek 20 has been one to remember for the EPL. We start off with the surprize win for Swansea against a Villa side who came off a resounding victory over Chelsea. Swansea have a terrible away record so the odds were heavily stacked against them. So an impressive victory puts them in ahead of villa, but only on goal difference.
Crouch was the star of the show as Stoke city managed to score some points against Blackburn. I've got a feeling that Blackburn are heading for religation, even though they managed a 3-2 win against man united last week.
QPR played Norwich at the same time, and they put up a good fight until Barton got red carded for headbutting Johnson. That was a difficult one to call but the refs decision was a straight red. Norwich came out the victors there, end score, 2-1.
Chelsea, who needed a win after coming off an upsetting defeat at the hands of Villa, travelled to Wolves. Chelsea started off full of confidence and managed to score a good goal from Ramires. But just a few short minutes later, Lampard made a dreadful tackle on Hammill which should have gotten him red carded, but he managed to escape with a yellow. This seemed to infuriate the wolves team and suddenly the whole momentum of the game seemed to be with them. The next period of play saw 5 yellows in 9 minutes. Wolves cooled their heads though and managed to equalize through a Ward strike. Wolves thought they had the point in the bag when a late strike from Lampard broke their hearts. Final score, Chelsea 2, Wolves 1.
Fulham hosted Arsenal a little later in the evening and Arsene Wenger knew his side needed to maintain that 4th spot that Chelsea are fighting them for. Fulham had other ideas though, After the sending off of Djourou, Fulham fought hard and defeated a lackluster 10 man Arsenal team. It looks as though Arsenal are not firing on all cylinders anymore. They need to seriously improve if they are going to contend for that 4th spot.
Tottenham had a lackluster performance last nite but it was enough to see off West Brom 1-0. It looks like Tottenham are really missing Lennon on their wing, because since he has been injured, they seem to be struggling a bit with goals. The Tottenham of a few months ago would have given West Brom a hiding, but not to take anything away from West Brom. Their defense was solid and I think they deserved a goal.
Next match was Wigan Athletic hosting Sunderland. What has happened to this Sunderland squad? they have been on fire since replacing their manager. Another excellent display from them and they fully deserved the victory. If they keep up this pace, I have a feeling they will make top 6.
My pick of the week for this week saw Man City host Liverpool. I really expected this one to be a draw, but Man City were back and playing the way a top of the league side should play. Liverpool had plenty chances but it seems that they are battling a bit without Suarez. I dont know what went wrong with Carroll, he was so good at Newcastle, but since coming to Anfield, he hasnt given the fans much to cheer about. Man City pretty much dominated the game, and even after going down to 10 men, still managed to score past Liverpool. If theres one thing Liverpool are seriously lacking this season, its a decent striker. Hopefully for them, they will be able to get one in the january window.
What the heck happened to Man United??? They played like they didnt have a care in the world. But im not taking anything away from newcastle though, their performance was A grade. Demba Ba is a machine! such a pity that he is going to be out for a while. Newcastle is going to have to rely on Leon Best now, lets hope he keeps the ball rolling after that hiding that Newcastle gave Man United. Sir Alex must be furious, he hardly ever has to deal with back to back losses.
Another shock of the night, Bolton defeating Everton. An excellent display from Bolton, even though Everton keeper Tim Howard scored brilliant but lucky goal all the way from his own box.It wasnt enough to help everton win. Now everton have got to face off with Tottenham in the last fixture of gameweek 20. It should be interesting.
